Bison Burgers with Asiago Thyme Butter

I've seen quite a few recipes that call for a disc of herbed butter inserted into the center of a burger.

The idea intrigued me but I decided to take it one step further and add some cheese to the butter.

I softened 6 TB of good butter, added about 1/2 cup of shredded Asiago cheese and about a tsp of fresh thyme leaves from my garden. After mixing it well I flattened it into 8 discs and put the stainless steel bowl in the freezer. It didn't take any time for them to freeze.

I used one pound of ground bison, making four quarter pound patties. I put a disc of the butter cheese mixture in the middle of each patty.

I decided to use the additional discs  to top each patty after I flipped them for the last time.

As you can see they turned out beautifully and oh so delicious!!  I served them with Pan's  Potato Salad and a green bean salad with red onion and tomato dressed with a great olive oil and pomegranate infused red wine vinegar.

These were easy to do and I hope y'all try them. It is definitely worth the little bit of extra time.
